Catchment Investment Strategy

Based on extensive scientific research, the Liverpool Plains Land Management Inc. Catchment Investment Strategy (CIS) provides an operating framework or blueprint for LPLM Inc.’s activities.

The CIS guides funds to priority landscapes and ensure accountability. The CIS sets out recommended actions to remediate the catchment problems and to encourage the matching of land use with best management practice and land capability.

LPLM has taken a lead role in coordinating much of the research that has been carried out across the Liverpool Plains to give us an understanding of the causes and the cures for the land management problems particularly identified by the Liverpool Plains community.

These were worsening salinity, declining biodiversity, worries about the security and quality of water supplies, soil erosion, riparian zone condition and floodplain management.

From this work came the Catchment Investment Strategy, which set out the changes in farming practices that were needed to ensure the long-term sustainability of our agriculture.

LPLMC actively advocates these Best Management Farming Practices, and provides incentives to landholders to encourage their adoption.
